Research Introduction

I am very proud and excited to introduce my research project on children's TV shows. Entertainment is such a vital part of a child's life. Children constantly need to be entertained, so the immediate thought is to let them watch TV. Well while needing to be constantly entertained children are also developing their own sense of value, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. That is where my research comes in. There is no scholarly conversation on the influence that television is having on children, but specifically the most popular children's shows. In my research project I will be focusing on coding the specific behavior and personality traits that main characters in the most popular children's TV shows portray to their viewers. I will be using a personalized chart I built off of traits that Elementary Essentials deemed as positive, neutral and negative. To the left is the self made chart that lists all the personality traits that are being coded for. From there I will keep track of the scores in charts to analyze for results in a literary analysis.
